WHO WE ARE

It is with great pleasure and honor that we welcome you to the Anatomy Laboratory of the University of Thessaly, a place where theoretical knowledge meets clinical practice and scientific advancement.

Our mission is to provide everyone, from medical students beginning their journey to experienced physicians—with the essential tools and up-to-date knowledge needed to enhance their clinical competence through a deeper understanding of human anatomy.

The anatomy lab at the Medical School of Larissa organizes and hosts seminars. These seminars are specially designed to meet the needs of all healthcare professionals, offering in-depth theoretical training and applied knowledge through practical and interactive activities. From basic anatomical concepts to the latest developments in the field, from cadaveric specimens to three-dimensional holograms, our seminars are aimed at those who wish to enhance their skills, stay updated on the latest advancements, and develop new approaches to medical practice.

UNIVERSITY OF THESSALY

FACULTY OF MEDICINE

The University of Thessaly was founded approximately 40 years ago and is located in the area of central Greece and specifically in the cities of Volos, Larissa, Trikala and Karditsa, where its departments are located.

Although it is one of the youngest universities in the country, its course to date is upward with a notable worldwide recognition in various evaluations. Most of its departments have been successfully evaluated by international evaluation committees, which are based on the rich scientific and teaching work of the faculty members as well as the modern educational program of the departments in their various subjects.

The establishment of the Department of Medicine, the newest of the seven in the country, dates back to 1985 and the first academic year was in operation in 1990-1991. The new buildings of the medical school hosted students for the first time in 2014-2015.

The goal of our department is to provide the best possible education for our undergraduate and postgraduate students, both in basic and clinical research, with the ultimate goal of better preparing them for the practice of medicine. Our laboratory has 3 classrooms, two for training in plastic and 3D models and one for training in cadaveric preparations, capable of accommodating 30-50 students each. It also has a fully equipped preparation-preservation room as well as changing rooms for trainees.
